Thoughts on politics, technology, economics, decision-making…

Hello World!

Welcome!  Be forewarned, this is my first attempt at a blog.  As such, this will probably be painful for a while.  But I expect it will improve with time.  Hopefully, you’ll stick around.

What are you going to write about?

It’ll take time for the theme to develop.  I plan to write about whatever interests me.  But if I had to pin down an encompassing interest, it would be Organizational Theory and Design.  More concretely, that means I’ll probably be writing about:

  • Politics
  • Technology
  • Economics
  • Data and Decision Making

Who the hell are you to write anything?

No one, but on the bright side it’s rare that you’ll find a completely novel idea in these posts.  And on cue…

Most claims of originality are testimony to ignorance and most claims of magic are testimony to hubris. ~James March

I believe great poets steal, and if I’m creative, it tends to be a recombination of ideas in seemingly different fields.  When I’m aware of my theft, I’ll call it out, but most of the time it’ll be a known unknown.

How often will you be posting?

Hmmm.  Tough to say.  I’ve always believed forecasting is a meaningless exercise.  I’ll commit to posting at least one standalone quote, like the one above, per day.

That’s it for the disclaimers.  I’ll try to over-deliver.  Hope you enjoy it.
